Role Definition

This role is designed to support the business in ensuring that day to day supplier commercial and performance requirements are met or exceeded. To perform PPV and supplier development activities which result and contribute to significant business improvements in cost and efficiency. To deliver net supplier cost improvements to meet or exceed the business plan through: commodity strategy, resourcing or benchmarking, direct negotiations, new business leverage, long-term agreements and value engineering. To maintain a rolling pareto based list of suppliers and identify those which require development on order to meet the business needs in terms of performance in the areas of: Cost, Quality, Process, Delivery and Compliance.

Main roles and responsibilities
• To support the operations team in ensuring that Suppliers meet obligations in term of responsibilities, performance and priorities to ensure un-disturbed production,
• Respond and follow up necessary to supply concerns identified at production meeting,
• Where escalation is required to achieve supplier performance, conduct this in an exhaustive fashion,
• Understand the business objective for supplier cost improvements and other improvements,
• Develop strategies and a pipe-line of opportunities to bring about opportunities which is successful would deliver the required objectives,
• Maintain reports which illustrate progress towards achieving given objectives,
• Achieve the given cost improvement objectives through a balanced mix of Benchmarking, Leverage of new business, Rationalization, Direct negotiation, Long-Term agreements, Value Engineering opportunities,
• From these measures maintain a pareto based portfolio of supplier requiring development to achieve the required levels, having shared the data with suppliers in systematic manner,
• Agree development plans with the required numbers of suppliers at any one time,
• As recipient of handover documents for new products, review the hand-over data to ensure that new products have been correctly set-up and managed and understand any long term commercial issues or benefits which need to invoked during the product’s life,
• Any other duties reasonably allocated by the Purchasing manager or Operations Manager.

Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years Purchasing Experience
• Professional membership of CIPS preferred,
• Analytical Thinker with excellent negotiation preparation and execution skills - this should be illustrated with a proven track record
• Full UK Driving License and flexibility to travel when required.
