Purpose of the role: To work within the manufacturing teams to improve the level of product quality, increase Quality awareness and ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management System.

Key responsibilities:

8D Problem Solving and Process Improvements:
• Record and investigate internal rejections and technical customers returns using 8D methodology
• Coach other employees in the 8D problem solving techniques
• Conduct and analyse SPC Capability Studies and recommend process improvements
• Lead problem solving and process improvement teams, defining objectives and maintaining action plans
• Report on quality performance through BIS charts and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

Measurement systems:
• Train production operators in the correct use of measuring equipment
• Ensure adequate gauging systems are used in production
• Conduct Gauge R-R studies to ensure that measurement system used in production meet the required standards
• Create work instructions for the correct use of measurement systems
• Research and recommend new technology in measuring techniques
• Ensure that all measurement and process control systems meet the requirements of the Quality Management System (e.g AMS 2750D Pyrometry, Brankamps)

Quality Training:
• Train production operators for first off approval, including dimensional checks and metallurgical examinations etc.

• Conduct internal and external audits in accordance with the Quality Management System
• Close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) arising from internal or external audits

Technical Assistance:
• Provide technical advice and training to the Quality Departments e.g. Metallographic examinations, mechanical testing, chemical titration
• Update or create documents and procedures for the Quality Management System (e.g QCP’s, Work Instructions).
• Support First Article Approvals and Qualifications of new products or customers, including preparation of Qualification Reports.
• Every employee shall observe the HSE rules defined at site level (procedures, instructions, operating notes, etc) They shall report to their Manager immediately an environmental issues and any risks or dangerous situations.

Skills / Knowledge:

Technical Skills:
• Communication skills
• Problem solving skills (8D, Six Sigma)
• Coaching skills

• English and ideally some basic French (ideally but not essential)

• Familiar with Microsoft packages ideally

• Minimum HNC or equivalent in an engineering or quality discipline or relevant experience preferably Aerospace
• Third party certification of auditing to ISO 9001-2000
• Experience of Metallurgy, Heat Treat Process, Pyrometry and Furnace surveys

• At least 5 years experience in a quality related function, knowledge of ISO 9001-2000 quality requirements, experience in internal/external auditing procedures.
